About the Artist

Tracey is a contemporary British artist based in Surrey, creating expressive, nature-inspired paintings using acrylic and alcohol ink. Her work is collected internationally, with pieces held in private collections across the UK, Europe, the USA and Asia.

Nature lies at the heart of Tracey’s work. Inspired by flowers, the sea and expansive skies, her paintings explore colour, movement and light - capturing the quiet beauty and sense of wonder found in the natural world. Her pieces are created to evoke moments of calm, joy and reflection for the viewer.

Tracey works primarily with acrylic and alcohol ink, drawn to the vibrancy and fluidity of these mediums. Alcohol ink in particular allows colour to move freely across the surface, creating organic forms and delicate layers. Often working without brushes, Tracey manipulates the inks using only a straw, guiding the flow to form intricate shapes with a soft, almost chiffon-like quality. Metallic inks are frequently added to enhance depth and luminosity, bringing a subtle sense of movement and light to the finished work.

Each painting begins with a feeling or image inspired by nature, but the process itself remains intuitive. As the inks move and interact, the artwork evolves naturally, creating unique and expressive pieces that cannot be replicated.

“Before I begin any new work, I have an image in my mind of what I would like to create and the feelings I want to capture. That always stems from nature - flowers, the sea and sky, which I find almost magical. My pieces don’t always end up as I first imagine but evolve as I’m working. I hope they give you as much pleasure and joy to view as they do me when I create them.”

Tracey was nominated for Surrey Artist of the Year in 2024.

She regularly exhibits throughout the South East and works from her studio in Surrey, where she also hosts relaxed art workshops and creative experiences.

Artists Statement

My inspiration always stems from nature; colours, flowers, the sea and sky, which I find almost magical. My love of flowers started early in life, I vividly remember being fascinated by wildflowers in the copse at junior school and sketching them. It’s the intricate detail of the petals that fascinate me and when creating from my imagination now, I use a straw to move the inks which flow to create calming, organic shapes. Before I begin any new artwork, I have an image in my mind that I would like to create and the feelings I want to capture; whether that be calming, warm and secure or more vibrant and energising – but the overall aim is always to bring joy.

My pieces don’t always end up as I first imagine but evolve as I’m working and I find that very exciting! While creating I get completely lost in the process which has a wonderful overall feeling of calm and serenity. This is what I hope to portray to you, the viewer, allowing you to experience these feelings too. If a piece of my work makes you feel joy that is priceless to me!
